Christian Levett
Former Investment Fund Manager & British Collector & Philanthropist.
Description
Christian Levett, a former top-ranked investment manager, built Clive Capital, once the
largest commodity investment fund globally, before retiring in 2016 to focus on his passion
for art and cultural heritage. Over three decades, he has assembled a collection of 2,000
artworks, including 600 by female artists, and founded FAMM (Female Artists of the
Mougins Museum), Europe’s first museum dedicated exclusively to female artists from
Impressionism to the present day.
Levett has sponsored over 40 exhibitions at major institutions such as The British Museum,
The Met, Palazzo Strozzi, and the Royal Academy of Arts, while supporting archaeological
digs and restoration projects, including Dante’s Cenotaph in Florence. His home in Florence,
transformed into a gallery featuring works by female Abstract Expressionists, regularly hosts
university and museum patron groups.
A Fellow of the Ashmolean Museum and Wolfson College, Oxford, and a member of The
Met’s Arms and Armour Committee and Palazzo Strozzi’s Scientific Committee, Levett
continues to champion cultural projects. He recently published Abstract Expressionists: The
Women and supports initiatives such as the Curart Residency and the FAMM Women’s Prize
to promote female artists worldwide.
