Born in Beirut in 1947 into a prominent Syrian-Lebanese family, he established himself on the international art market in the 1960s. Based in Monaco, he and his brother Ezra have assembled one of the most valuable private art collections in the world, including masterpieces by Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Renoir, and Rothko. The Nahmad Collection is particularly renowned for holding the largest private collection of works by Pablo Picasso — over 300 paintings.
